Sourdough Scones

  • Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 stick of butter- frozen
  • ½ cup sourdough discard
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • Optional: 1-2 cups of inclusions

ADD-IN:  Blueberry – Mixed berry – Banana chocolate chip – Rosemary cheddar bacon – Espresso chocolate chip – Cinnamon sugar

 

*Makes 8 scones

Directions

1. In a large bowl, mix together dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt

2. Grate the frozen butter, or chop into very small pieces

3. Mash the butter into the dry ingredients until completely combined

4. Optional: add inclusions to the bowl of dry ingredients, lightly mix

5. In a separate bowl, mix together wet ingredients: sourdough discard, heavy cream, vanilla, and egg

6. Add wet ingredients into the dry ingredients

7. Mix and fold together the ingredients until there are no pockets of dry flour

8. On a floured surface, form dough into an 8” round disk

9. Cut into 8 triangular shaped pieces

10.Bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes
